Stan Karwoski seeks re-election to Washington County Board of Commissioners
[Oakdale, MN] Stan Karwoski, Oakdale, today announced that he will seek re-election to the District 2 seat on the Washington County Board of Commissioners. Karwoski was first elected to the County Board in a special election in 2016 and was re-elected in 2018 and 2022. Prior to his election to the County Board, Karwoski served on the Oakdale City Council and as Mayor of the City of Oakdale.
Karwoski has a long history of community involvement, including serving on the Oakdale Planning and Parks Commission, as a member of the Oakdale and Woodbury Chambers of Commerce, and the St. Paul Winter Carnival.
“I have enjoyed strong support from my family, friends, community members and business leaders for many years and am very grateful for that support,” said Karwoski. “I am proud of the work and accomplishments of Washington County to make the community better for everyone.”
Karwoski’s current assignments on the county board include serving on the Metropolitan Transportation Advisory Board (TAB), the Gold Line Joint Powers Board, the County Workforce Development Board, and the Greater MSP Board of Directors, and many others.
Karwoski points to many recent accomplishments including a new Wildwood Library in Willernie, improvements to Hwy 244 (now County Road 12) from Century Avenue to Stillwater Road, construction of the new 4th Street bridge over Hwy 694, new Bielenberg bridge over I-94, opening of the Gold Line Bus Rapid Transit line and the Central Service and License Center in Woodbury. Karwoski served as county board chair in 2019, 2024 and 2025.
Karwoski has lived in Oakdale since 1987, is a graduate of Harding High School and Metro State University. He is married to his wife of 46 years Linda, and they have four adult children and six grandchildren. He is retired as a principal designer at Graco Inc. after a 38-year career where he was awarded 9 patents.
District 2 includes residents in the cities of Birchwood, Landfall, Oakdale, Pine Springs and Willernie, as well the portion of White Bear Lake that is within Washington County, Precinct 2 in the City of Mahtomedi, and four precincts within the City of Woodbury (1, 2, 7, and 8).
